Micronet Enertec Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQCM: MICT), a developer and manufacturer of rugged computers, tablets and computer-based systems for the commercial Mobile Resource Management (MRM) market and for the defence and aerospace markets, will distribute PTV’s truck and fleet specific navigation solution PTV Navigator.

PTV’s professional navigation solution always calculates the most efficient route for trucks based on the type of vehicle, including a wide range of attributes such as HGV restrictions, clearance heights, load capacity of bridges and hazardous goods restrictions. Routing avoids residential areas and narrow side roads, pedestrian zones and unsuitable turning manoeuvres.

Based on a sophisticated concept of software tools, PTV Navigator goes far beyond the functionality of standard navigation systems. It thus enables drivers to drive smoothly while being provided with a lot of useful information during the trip. For example, the risk and speed alert systems warn drivers of speed traps and speed limits via audio and visual alerts. Live traffic information, which is almost indispensable for truck navigation, helps to find the best route and to predict the actual time of arrival. The Truck Parking app allows for integration of 20,000 truck parking spaces along European roads, including 27,000 insider tips like industrial areas. This way, it is much easier for drivers to drive and rest according to legal regulations.

In a world that is becoming increasingly networked, PTV’s Navigator provides multiple, easy-to-use interfaces which facilitate communication with other software programs (API). The navigation system can thus be combined with numerous scheduling applications, allowing users to forward transport jobs directly to the navigation system. This also facilitates the roll out process, in particular for whole fleets.

“Micronet’s new breakthrough platform, the rugged Android tablet A-317, is perfectly designed for professional applications and has successfully passed our strict testing procedures. It gives me a great pleasure to establish this new distribution agreement with Micronet,” says Michael Hubschneider, Senior Product Manager Logistics, PTV Group.

“We’re pleased to be working with PTV to leverage the power and effectiveness of our A-317 and the PTV Navigator,” said Micronet Chief Executive Officer, Shai Lustgarten. “Fleet companies and drivers need tablets inside the vehicle that can withstand the rigors of heavy duty driving and job sites while being as easy to use as a smart phone. By capturing and delivering data to the PTV Navigator, Micronet is helping transportation providers optimize fleet operations.”
