Delivering efficiently and resource-friendly at the same time – that is no problem for customers of PTV Smartour. The trip planning software has now been certified as a “Lean and Green” tool, assisting the users in reducing their CO2 emissions.
“With PTV Smartour the CO2 emissions can be reduced up to 17%”, says Oliver Püthe. He works for the non-profit initiative “Lean and Green” of GS1 Germany. “By optimising their trip planning, companies save time and resources.”
Achieving 20% less emissions of greenhouse gas in five years – that is the common goal of all the logistics companies taking part in the initiative. With PTV Smartour the emissions can be exactly calculated. A function that is widely used by the customers: “We successfully implemented the software in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, our so called central cluster”, explains Jochen Blümle, Operation Director Logistics at the paper wholesaler Papyrus Germany. “Thanks to a centralised process chain and PTV Smartour we managed to reduce our amount of trips and thus the CO2 emission by daily 12% – with no loss of capacity.”
The Climate Action Programme 2020 contains measures the German government has put in place to achieve the so-called 2020 target: To reduce emissions by 40% up to the year 2020. The initiative “Lean and Green” helps companies to contribute to that aim. “PTV Group is a competent partner in our network of tool providers”, adds Püthe. “With their software, PTV Group supports logistics service providers and shippers in retail and industry striving for climate protection.”
