Now it’s official: On 7 June, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (Porsche SE) announced the acquisition of PTV Group for a purchase price in excess of 300 million euro (see press release). Porsche SE sees great potential for growth in the optimization of the flow of people and goods – and this is precisely where our core competency lies. In our interview, CEO Vincent Kobesen comments on the effects.

Compass: Vincent, could you please first outline the impacts of the takeover by Porsche SE on our customers and business partners?

Vincent Kobesen: In any case, they may rest assured that we will continue to remain loyal to our customer promises. At the same time, like us, they can benefit from the positive stimuli. I’m convinced that this strategic alliance will lead to new business contacts and ideas. It will inspire us to turn them into solutions that precisely meet our customers’ specific needs.

Compass: How did the market environment react to the news?

Vincent Kobesen: In fact, most stakeholders were pleasantly surprised and congratulated us on this strategic development. The Porsche name has great power. So the press release generated exceptional news coverage in the commercial and specialized press. This was also reflected by the social media platforms with record coverage, boosting awareness of our company as mobility expert, hidden champion and professional niche player.

Compass: What is the biggest challenge you’re facing right now?

Vincent Kobesen: The final completion of the transaction with Porsche SE was marked by a lot of energy and effort by our top management team. The expectations placed on us are very high. What’s new to us is the fact that we need to establish processes allowing us to publish our quarterly figures transparently and to report on our performance (which may considerably vary from month to month) at much shorter intervals.

Compass: What insights have you gained from this?

Vincent Kobesen: I’ve always believed in the unique expertise and great potential that lies in our PTV Group. I’m very proud to see that my conviction has been confirmed through an intense validation and selection process and has become visible for all our employees and of course all market players.

Porsche SE’s decision to acquire PTV confirms our growth course and our entrepreneurial focus on actively shaping the mobility of the future by contributing our expertise in the field of optimization of traffic and transport logistics. We are always on the move and we’ll keep moving – after all, we are “The mind of movement”.
